After a patient undergoes gastric surgery, they may require or wish to undergo gastric revisions. Revisions change or modify a pre-existing bariatric procedure. Reasons to undergo a revision are many, including changes in bariatric procedures, fixing a failed bariatric operation, or examining existing bariatric procedures to ensure safety. The most common revision performed is removal of a gastric band. This is most frequently performed in patients who desire greater weight loss. Conversion to a sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass can often be performed at the same time.
If you have had a gastric procedure in the past, we encourage you to talk to Dr. Melanie Hafford. Dr. Hafford works with patients across North Texas to help them improve their health and aid them in their weight loss goals.
